This Day in Music: Coldplay is a Hot Commodity
On this day in 2008, Coldplay killed two birds with one rock’n song. ‘Viva La Vida’ hit #1 on the UK singles chart, giving Coldplay their first #1 song on their homeland’s charts. An even bigger mark was made in the history books by ‘Viva La Vida’ though. Since the song could only be acquired by downloading it from the internet, it became the first song to reach #1 without ever having a physical CD-single. The song would also go on to win Coldplay ‘Song of the Year’ at the 51st Annual Grammy Awards.
