This Day in Music: A Mother’s Motley Mayhem
Today is Father’s Day, and let’s face it, Father’s Day will never be as big of a deal as Mother’s Day. But it makes sense. Your dad participated in the fun part, your conception, then left your mom to do the hard part, the uterine ejection. So usually, the only time fathers ever outshine mothers is when a mother messes up.
Take Vittoria Holman, for example. In 1985 she got front row seats for her and her daughter to see Motley Crue, putting them less than 10 feet from the band, and the speakers! Motley Crue proceeded to blow the mother and daughter away. More precisely, their eardrums were blown, and on this day in 1987 the Florida real estate agent sued Motley Crue for the alleged hearing loss incurred at the concert in December of 1985. In the end, the case was settled out of court, and The Crue’s insurance company shelled out $30,000 to Holman.
So here’s to Dads – when it comes to being the second best parent, you’re first rate. Happy Father’s Day.
