Top 8 British Talent
1. Ed Sheeran
This talent speaks for himself with his current album running in the UK top 40 charts for 24 consecutive weeks. In addition to that, he nabbed two of this year’s BRIT awards for British Breakthrough Act and Male Solo Artist. However – check out another British gem’s cover of his single A-Team, by Birdy.
2. Adele
6 Grammys. Need we say more? According to her blog 5 used to be her favorite number but it seems to have jumped up by one now…
3. Emeli Sandé
Sandé seems to be able to combine soul and RnB elements refreshingly well in her work. Her vocal talents go hand in hand seamlessly with her abilities as a songwriter. A double-whammy for this recently discovered solo artist.
4. Tom Vek
I love this guy. Alternative enough but not to the extreme. Aroused and Nothing But Green Lights should be added to your playlists people. Get on the case.
5. Bloc Party
These guys just never get old. This is the kind of band that never ceases to disappoint when a new album is released. One of their songs has just currently been remixed by my next choice of British Talent…
6. Burial
“Real dubstep.” Shortly after being shortlisted for the Mercury Prize in 2008, Burial revealed his true identity after much speculation. William Bevan, a low-key guy from London, won the award later that year and is still going strong. Check out one of his older singles, Archangel.
7. Florence + The Machine
You think it can’t sound better when you hear their album, but then you hear them live. I can’t say that about too many bands. If you want to see a truly great performance check out You Got the Dirtee Love ft. Dizzee Rascal.
8. David Bowie
I just cannot fathom making a top list in anything without including this God.
